Yo, yo, yo — super quick! I just got back from Christmas with the fam, and I was sent away with an armload of Back Street Kids swag. It’s not like we’ll be selling this stuff at our next gig. (Our last gig was in 2007, so …) It’s just stuff that certain family members customized for me ‘n’ my brother to mark the release of our new album “Wicked Ways.” Ain’t that sweet?
First of all, here’s a photo of the CD pressing we did. It’s the first time I’d seen or heard it since “Wicked Ways” materialized in … October, was it? November? I can’t remember sh*t these days. Anyways, the CD came out very cool. Only one little problem, though. NO ONE HAS A CD PLAYER ANY MORE.
I won’t reveal the gift-giver — I’m a private person, too — but look at this cool Vogerland Studios T-shirt that me ‘n’ my brother Brian Voger, who produced “Wicked Ways,” got. (Vogerland is his imprint … it’s what he named his YouTube channel … and he even designed the logo. Please note that the guitar has four tuning pegs, meaning it’s a bass, which is Brian’s instrument.) The gift-giver had one made for himself, too. Solidarity!
Then another gift-giver — OK, this one was Brian — gave me a bunch of guitar picks with the Back Street Kids mascot on it. (In case he looks vaguely familiar but you can’t put your finger on it, he’s Lon Chaney Sr. from the seminal 1925 horror movie “Phantom of the Opera.” But he’s smoking a cigarette. And if you must know, it’s a Marlboro.) The one shown above is about six-tupple of actual size. (“Six-tupple” is a math term.)
Here’s a photo of all 15 picks that Brinie gave me. So it was a holly jolly after all.
