SUPER SHOCK SHOW 2025: It was chill hanging out in Asbury Park on Labor Day Weekend. The Aug. 30, 2025 event was organized by Eric Krause, proprietor of Groovy Graveyard, the grooviest shop in the grooviest town on the Jersey Shore. Lotsa cool guests were on hand at this free event, including Philip McNulty (the ’89 Batman is his jam); Len Danovich (his painted jack-o’-lanterns are a revelation); Steve Vincent (still drawing altogether ooky stuff); authors Steven Farkas and Tony DiGerolamo; and my new best friend Mike Koneful (I defy you to find a more devoted Edward Van Sloan fan). More HERE. Sadly, artist Neil Vokes had to cancel. Mike is slated to return at 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 for a demonstration of the theremin. (The cat is multi-media!)

SEA-CON 2025: Had a blast playing Stump-the-Monster-Nerd with Glenn Taranto (the Nineties TV Gomez) and artist Mike Koneful (a Philly guy, a Zacherley guy, even a Dr. Shock guy) at Sea-Con 2025 held May 4, 2025 in Sea Bright, NJ. Read my coverage (with photos) HERE.

Had a great time at the Double Trouble Super Author Showdown Nov. 17, 2024, at Groovy Graveyard in Asbury Park, New Joisey. Also on hand were author Tony Digerolamo (“The Pineys”), who spoke about his days writing “Simpsons” comics, and Groovy Graveyard proprietor Eric Krause, the hardest-workin’ man in show biz. It was a lovely, mild day in Asbury, with a that growing “holiday” kinda vibe.

SEA-CON 2024: “Star Wars” cosplayers in full regalia plus Manasquan Batman? All that and more was found at Sea-Con 2025 held May 4, 2025 in Sea Bright, NJ. Read my coverage (with photos) HERE.

HOLIDAY BOOK SIGNING: My Christmas book of 2020, “Holly Jolly,” has sold out, but I was signing and selling new copies from my personal stock on Dec. 16, 2023, at Groovy Graveyard, 658 Cookman Ave. in Asbury Park, NJ. On this beautifully clear and cold Saturday, Asbury and Ocean Grove were positively glowing with Christmas cheer.

FLEMINGTON SUMMER BOOK FEST 2023: I had a great time meetin’ folks and hawkin’ books at the sprawling festival held on May 28, 2023. They parked me in a great spot right in front of a very cool book store, Act 2 Books at 24 Central Ave. There were a lotta people who love books walkin’ around on that sunny, hot Sunday. SCARY STORIES BOOK FESTIVAL: My first in-person gig since the COVID broke out was the Scary Stories Book Festival held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at the Capitoline Basement in Asbury Park. Keepin’ it weird were the “zombies” who walked by our tables — participants in the Asbury Park Zombie Walk. Read my coverage (with photos) HERE.

SUPER SHOCK SHOW ’19: I had a blast on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at the winter edition of the Super Shock Show at Groovy Graveyard in Asbury Park. Guests at the free event included animator Bob Camp (“Ren and Stimpy”); Weird NJ guys Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman; scream queen Genoveva Rossi (“Bloodmania”); horror writer Steven Farkas; and artists Philip McNulty, Danny Kelly, Raynard Hannah and Brian Petitti. ‘Groovy’s’ world-premiere at New York Comic Con

“Groovy” was released on Nov. 21, 2017. But six weeks earlier, TwoMorrows Publishing had 15 copies specially shipped to the New York Comic Con held Oct. 5-8, 2017, at Javits Center in Manhattan. It was the first time anybody in the world — myself included — saw the book, so it was kinda excitin’. I was on hand at the TwoMorrows booth (#1038) on that Friday, Saturday and Sunday to scrawl my name on the advance copies.
